In a major programming shift, WWE’s flagship weekly program Raw is making its way to the world’s leading entertainment service, Netflix, starting January 2025.

The multi-year deal also includes WWE’s other highly-rated shows, SmackDown and NXT, as well as its Premium Live Events. The streaming service is gearing up to face the competition in live sports, with competitors like Apple TV Plus already in the arena.

This long-term partnership further expands the reach of WWE’s shows and events, bringing weekly live appointment viewing to Netflix’s global audience. The WWE library is currently available on Peacock.

Netflix enters live sports streaming with a 10-year deal

Variety reports that the streaming service will pay $500 million per year for rights to Monday Night Raw, bringing the total up to $5 billion for the next 10 years. We’re hopeful this won’t mean another price hike for Netflix subscribers, but that seems unlikely.

“We are excited to have WWE Raw, with its passionate multigenerational fan base, on Netflix,” said Bela Bajaria, Chief Content Officer of the streaming service, in a press release. “By combining our reach and fandom with WWE, we’ll be able to deliver more joy and value for their audiences and our members.”

The show, which is currently the number one show on the USA Network, brings in 17.5 million unique viewers annually across its 52-week run. Raw has launched many iconic careers in sports entertainment, including John Cena and Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson.

Mark Shapiro, TKO President and COO, said in a statement:

This deal is transformative. It marries the can’t-miss WWE product with Netflix’s extraordinary global reach and locks in significant and predictable economics for many years. Our partnership fundamentally alters and strengthens the media landscape, dramatically expands the reach of WWE, and brings weekly live appointment viewing to Netflix.

Raw has been on linear television for over 31 years, making it a significant shift for the company that has been a staple for sports entertainment.

T-Mobile demotes free “Netflix on Us” perk to the ad-supported tier https://knowtechie.com/t-mobile-changing-free-netflix-on-us-perk-ad-tier/ https://knowtechie.com/t-mobile-changing-free-netflix-on-us-perk-ad-tier/#respond Tue, 23 Jan 2024 20:24:09 +0000 https://knowtechie.com/?p=358059 Get ready to see ads on your T-Mobile Netflix plan.

The post T-Mobile demotes free “Netflix on Us” perk to the ad-supported tier appeared first on KnowTechie.

]]>
If you currently receive Netflix as part of your T-Mobile subscription, be prepared to watch content with ads.

Starting this week, the Magenta-heavy wireless provider will be shifting its wireless customers over to a Netflix plan that includes short advertisement interruptions before and during movies and TV shows.

The move comes several months after Netflix retired its cheapest commercial-free plan, called Basic, which offered standard definition streaming of shows and movies without advertisements for around $10 per month.

What version of Netflix will T-Mobile customers get now?

t-mobile logo on glass wall
Image: Unsplash

For several years, T-Mobile customers on eligible wireless plans were offered Netflix Basic for free, a great perk that helped wireless customers binge their way through popular shows like “Stranger Things,” “Ozark,” “Narcos” and “Squid Game.”

Some T-Mobile subscribers with multiple lines of service or on advanced plans were upgraded to Netflix Standard, which usually costs $15.50 per month and unlocks added perks like two simultaneous streams of high-definition content.

Customers who received Netflix Basic but wanted access to a higher tier of service like Neflix Standard were given the option to upgrade for a small fee — substantially less than what it would ordinarily cost to subscribe to the service on its own.

Earlier this month, documents leaked to The Mobile Report revealed T-Mobile would change how it offered free Netflix to customers: The company was eliminating all freebies involving the streaming service’s commercial-free plans, and would move all eligible subscribers over to Netflix with Ads.

T-Mobile has remained relatively quiet on the matter, but promotional materials and service terms reviewed by KnowTechie show the company has moved forward with the changes.

Starting this month, eligible T-Mobile wireless customers will be able to add Netflix with Ads as part of the company’s long-standing “Netflix on Us” perk when they agree to connect their Netflix account to T-Mobile.

While the perk was reserved in the past for customers of T-Mobile’s higher-priced unlimited tiers or for subscribers with more than one line of service, T-Mobile has eased up on these requirements for Netflix with Ads.

T-Mobile’s new strategy for “Netflix on Us”

Now, customers who have one or more qualifying line of service on the following plans can get Netflix with Ads for free (normally $7 per month):

  • Go5G Next
  • Go5G Plus
  • Magenta Max

Customers with all other Go5G or Magenta plans will need two or more qualifying lines of service in order to get Netflix with Ads for free.

While the Standard tier was previously offered to customers with higher-priced plans or multiple lines of service, that perk is now gone.

Instead, all customers who receive the ad-supported tier for free are offered the opportunity to upgrade their subscription at a discounted rate when they agree to pay for it through their T-Mobile plan:

  • Netflix Standard: $8.50 per month (normally $15.50 per month)
  • Netflix Premium: $16 per month (normally $23 per month)

Essentially, the $7 per month discount is applied as a credit for either Netflix Standard or Netflix Premium, but only when customers agree to have their Netflix subscription billed through their T-Mobile account. If a qualified line of service is removed, canceled, or suspended, the discount goes away.

What are the differences between the Netflix plans?

netflix starting a 6.99 per month
Image: Netflix

Netflix with Ads and Netflix Standard offer many of the same perks: Users can stream high-definition content (up to 1080p resolution) on two devices at once, and can download movies and TV shows on up to two devices.

The key difference between the two plans is probably obvious, given the names of each plan: Netflix with Ads includes commercial interruptions. Netflix Standard does not.

For some people, the offer to eliminate ads for $8.50 per month is an attractive one: When billed through T-Mobile, the plan is about $1.50 cheaper than the retail cost of Netflix with Ads (or, put another way, how much the ad-supported plan would cost without T-Mobile covering the bill).

For frugal customers, getting the streaming service for free with their T-Mobile service is worth the compromise of having to sit through a few ads before and during shows and movies.

Netflix Premium offers additional perks, including the ability to stream ultra-high definition (UHD/4K) content on four devices at once, and the ability to download TV shows and movies to six different devices.

The cost of the Premium tier is $16 per month when billed through T-Mobile, making it a better fit for families who have multiple streamers living within the same household.

What other streaming services does T-Mobile offer for free?

Netflix isn’t the only streaming service perk T-Mobile subscribers can get for free. T-Mobile also offers free access to a number of other streaming audio and video services, some of which are limited-time, expanded trials of premium offerings and others that renew on a regular basis, listed below.

Hulu with Ads

Starting Wednesday, January 24, T-Mobile will offer eligible subscribers free access to the ad-supported version of Hulu.

The Hulu with Ads perk was announced as being exclusive to subscribers of T-Mobile’s priciest plan, called Go5G Next.

However, some customers (including this reporter) on older plans like Magenta Max have received text messages over the past few weeks informing them that their plans are also eligible for free access to Hulu with Ads — so, we’ll have to wait until Wednesday to see how T-Mobile offers the promotion.

Apple TV Plus

T-Mobile offers eligible customers with one qualifying line on the Go5G Next plan or higher (or the equivalent older Magenta plan) free access to Apple TV Plus.

The perk is offered as a one-year extended trial, which customers can renew every year if they maintain a qualifying line.

MLB.TV

T-Mobile has long been a sponsor of Major League Baseball, and for the past few years, it has offered customers on unlimited data plans free access to MLB.TV. The limited window to sign up for MLB.TV typically happens in the spring, around the start of baseball season.

In recent years, T-Mobile has offered MLB.TV through its T-Mobile Tuesdays app; this year, the freebie is expected to move to T Life, the new loyalty app T-Mobile is launching in the coming weeks.

ViX Premium

Eligible customers can sign up for a one-year free trial of the Spanish-language streaming service. The service automatically renews after one year.

SiriusXM streaming radio

The same radio channels offered on SiriusXM satellite are also available through the SiriusXM streaming app, plus hundreds of online-only channels and personalized artist-specific stations powered by Pandora.

Eligible T-Mobile customers can get a six-month free trial of SiriusXM streaming radio, a savings of $60 per month; the trial renews after six month at $10 per month.

Pandora Premium

The streaming audio app includes the flagship Pandora radio experience powered by the Music Genome Project, as well as on-demand access to millions of songs and podcasts.

Eligible T-Mobile customers get four months of Pandora Premium for free, a savings of $40; the service renews after four months at $10 per month.

According to the freshest JustWatch data, Disney’s streaming platforms – Disney+ and Hulu – are dancing circles around Prime Video, snagging more market shares in Q4 2023.

Meanwhile, Netflix is hot on their heels, proving that this dance-off is anyone’s game.

As we sashay through the stats, Insider Intelligence‘s data shows an increase in individual plans, which could help Disney surpass Prime Video.

“In the final quarter of the year, Disney’s streaming services, Disney+ and Hulu, combined gathered more shares than current market leader Prime Video,” a company spokesperson tells KnowTechie.”

Meanwhile, Netflix is approaching Prime Video with just a 1% difference between the two players.

And if you’re thinking Disney’s got this waltz won, let me direct your attention to the SEC filings that reveal more than just impressive subscription revenue.

The post Netflix expands its gaming library with the Grand Theft Auto Trilogy appeared first on KnowTechie.

Last month, Netflix announced that the Grand Theft Auto (GTA) trilogy will be added to its games library in December, and it seems that time has finally arrived.

All three GTA titles are available to play on the world’s most popular streaming platform, following the epic Grand Theft Auto 6 trailer.

New GTA games on Netflix are the “Definitive Edition”

However, this isn’t a surprise drop. The streaming platform had already confirmed the December 14 launch date on the App Store, Google Play Store, and Netflix, and the three titles are up for grabs right now:

All three GTA titles are extremely popular and are part of the mainline games from the PS2 era. So, it’s a joyous occasion if you grew up playing these games.

Also, it’s worth mentioning that all three entries are part of the “Definitive Edition.” So, you will find somewhat overhauled graphics and different soundtracks compared to the original ones.

You can download the games for free, but you will need an active Netflix subscription to play them.

Either way, Netflix’s GTA trilogy comes right after the Rockstar Games’ announcement and the launch of the first trailer for Grand Theft Auto VI – the next mainline GTA title.

It’s slated for a 2025 release for the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series consoles. We are pretty sure the game will come to PC, but likely at a later date.

The post Disney Plus now hosts Hulu content appeared first on KnowTechie.

Future Disney Plus and Hulu subscribers can look forward to a streamlined viewing experience. The beta version of the Disney+ app is currently integrating Hulu’s content, with a dedicated Hulu tab in the works.

This one-app solution is set to make managing your favorite shows and movies even easier.

The new tab lives on the second line of the Disney Plus homepage, where Disney, Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars, and National Geographic tabs currently appear.

The Hulu tab will show thousands of movies and shows and a selection of episodes that aired on TV the night before. What it won’t show is Hulu with Live TV content or any Premium add-ons.

Hulu is going to be inside the Disney Plus app in future

The new tab for Hulu content inside Disney Plus isn’t intended to replace the standalone Hulu app. Instead, it’s to make it easier for bundle subscribers to access their content.

It’s also possible the move is a way to pad Disney Plus subscriber counts and retention levels, as it keeps bundle subscribers in the app for longer. With Disney Plus dropping subscriber counts rapidly this year, any way to stop the bleed will be welcome.

The Hulu tab inside the Disney+ app will only show for subscribers on a Bundle subscription, at least during the beta period. Disney plans a full rollout in March 2024 after tweaking things based on feedback.

This staggered approach also gives parents time to set parental controls and profiles for family members so they can only access age-appropriate content.

The post How to cancel the subscription services you may be paying for appeared first on KnowTechie.

With entertainment a necessary expense at the best of times, you might find that you’ve signed up for more subscription services than intended.

Whether that’s free trials that ran over before you canceled them, or a service you subscribed to so you could watch that one show, it’s all too easy to end up with a monthly bill that’s eating your hard-earned cash.

Regardless of how many subscriptions you plan on keeping, it’s time to clean out your subscription list.

Most of the KnowTechie staff did this early on in the pandemic when we realized that most of the services we actually pay for aren’t even ones we use anymore.

That’s nothing compared to Matthew Inman, the brains behind The Oatmeal. He had a rude awakening when he realized that Netflix had been charging him for a DVD subscription for an unlucky thirteen years. Ouch.

It’s a good idea to review your inbox for receipts, even if you don’t plan on canceling any services. This way, you can find out exactly how many services you’re paying for each month.

If you were not grandfathered into a great deal, cancelling a service won’t result in a significant loss, and you can always subscribe again later if you find that you miss it.

Here’s how to cancel many of the streaming services

Netflix

Image: KnowTechie

If you want to know if you’re still paying for a DVD subscription on Netflix, head to your Account page. You’ll be able to see which plan(s) you’re subscribed to, and if you want, cancel your subscription completely.

Sure, you’ll miss out on the huge number of new movies that are being added this year, but at least you’ll have a little more cash in the bank.

HBO and HBO Max

hbo max on flat-screen tv
Image: KnowTechie

If the only thing you subscribed to HBO for was Game of Thrones, why have you been paying for it for almost five years since it ended? Did you even noticed it changed names to simply Max?

Go cancel, and save yourself enough to buy a pizza every month. Go do it, unless you really want to watch the second season of The Gilded Age.

Amazon Prime

Image: Joe Rice-Jones / KnowTechie

If you find you’re not using Amazon Prime because you prefer to support local businesses, or if you don’t use Amazon Music or Prime Video, or like the Twitch Gaming perks, you can go cancel your subscription pretty easily.

Just be aware that you might not get any money back, as Amazon’s terms for a full refund only work if you haven’t used any of the services.

Apple services

apple one subscription services
Image: Apple

Whether you realized you prefer Spotify to Apple Music, don’t want to play the games on Apple Arcade, or don’t want Apple TV Plus to continue once your free trial runs out, it’s easy to cancel your subscriptions on an Apple device.

To cancel your Apple subscriptions:

  1. On Mac

Open the App Store, click on your name, then on View Information.

  2. Go to Subscriptions > Manage.

  3. Click on Edit on the subscription you want to cancel, then on Cancel Subscription.

  4. On iOS

    ios settings apple id subscriptions

Open Settings, tap on your name, then Subscriptions.

  5. ios subscriptions page

Tap on the subscription you want to cancel, then tap on Cancel Subscription.

Nintendo Switch Online

If you absolutely need to cut costs, the $20 a year subscription to Nintendo Switch Online or $50 a year to include the Expansion Pack is probably one of the last to go.

I mean, you lose cloud saves for your games, multiplayer with your friends, and all of those sweet retro games that Nintendo adds to every month. It’s only a few steps to cancel though and can be done via your console or the Nintendo website.

Hulu

Image: KnowTechie

Hulu is often bundled with other services, or offered through third-parties like Amazon, Roku, or even your cell phone provider. Depending on who you signed up from, the process is slightly different so it’s worth reading Hulu’s instructions page.

YouTube TV

Image: Android Central

YouTube TV seems to raise their prices every few months, with no real benefits to remaining a subscriber. Heck, you don’t even get most of the NFL for the price.

You can either cancel or pause your subscription from the same page, just make sure you’re signed into the same Google account that your YouTube TV subscription is through.

Disney Plus

disney+ streaming service
Image: Disney

Maybe you only subscribed for The Mandalorian, and don’t really want the rest of Disney’s content until it comes back for another season. If so, your Disney Plus subscription can be canceled in a few short steps, via their website.

If you subscribed through the app, you need to cancel via iTunes or the Google Play Store, or the subscription you got it bundled with.

ESPN Plus

espn+ streaming service
Image: KnowTechie

ESPN Plus is one of those services that often gets bundled with other streaming services, so you might not be able to cancel it from their own website. It’s also easy to subscribe through third-party sources, like Roku, Amazon, Apple Pay, or iTunes.

If you have an active subscription and want to cancel it, head to this page in ESPN’s help pages, which will tell you how to cancel depending on how you subscribed to begin with.

Fubo

Fubo might be the best place to catch the NFL and many other sports, but it comes with a premium price tag.

To trim your monthly outgoings once the Super Bowl is over, sign into your account on the Fubo website and navigate to the Subscription and Billing area. There’s a dedicated cancel subscription button at the bottom.

Starz

The image displays the logo of "Starz," a premium cable and satellite TV network, set against a gradient purple background.
Image: KnowTechie

Starz has a ton of original content but maybe you’ve already watched all of Black Sails or subscribed to watch all of American Gods but, like me, got angry when seasons two and three were only available to buy on other streaming services.

To cancel, log in to your Starz account, click on the user icon at the top-right then on Settings. From here, the Billing Plan & Information section will have a link to Cancel Subscription.

It’s even easier on the app, where you tap the More icon then on Settings, head to Account Management and tap Cancel Subscription.

Paramount+

paramount plus logo
Image: Paramount

Paramount+ is the best place to catch up on everything Star Trek-related, but with dozens of seasons to get through you might find you’ve had enough of the utopian future of humanity.

To cancel if you signed up on the website, head to Paramount Plus, click on your username at the top-right, and on Account. Scroll down to the bottom and click on Cancel subscription.

Showtime

This image shows the logo of Showtime, an American premium television network, with a red background and white lettering on a purple backdrop.

Showtime is often bundled with other services, like Paramount+, but in case you signed up on the website it’s simple to cancel your subscription once you’ve finished watching.

Head to SHOWTIME.com, sign in at the top-right, then click your profile icon which is also in the top-right. Then go to Account Settings, Your Account, and click on Cancel Your Subscription.

Quobuz

Qobuz has a ton of high quality music from artists that just aren’t on other streaming services, plus a storefront for buying digital tracks, like a more niche iTunes.

If the monthly subscription fee is starting to be a drag, you can head to the My Streaming Plan tab inside your profile and click on the Unsubscribe link. Follow along and you’ll be canceled in no time.

Tidal

tidal music streaming
Image: Tidal

Tidal used to be the best place to listen to Hi-Res audio, but it’s also the most expensive for the top tier. Plus, the other streaming services have all caught up with their own lossless or Hi-Res content that doesn’t cost extra.

To cancel your Tidal subscription, head to my.tidal.com in any browser, log in, and click on Subscription. Clicking on Cancel My Subscription then confirming will end things.

It’s nice to see that the cancel routine isn’t hidden behind several layers of menu.

You can also cancel from the app, by tapping on My Collection, then Settings, Edit Profile, and Manage Subscription. Tapping on your subscription then on Cancel Subscription should have you sorted.

Spotify Premium

In this image, Spotify is being used to listen to music by artist R K. Full Text: Spotify R K
Image: KnowTechie

Spotify Premium might still have the best recommendation engine of any music streaming service, but the constant price hikes get tiresome.

If you want to cancel paying for Premium, head to spotify.com/account and log in. Look for the Manage your plan section and click Change plan. Click on Cancel Premium and confirm.

You can also do this from the app by going to Your Library and opening your account. Tap on View Your Plan, then on Change Your Plan, and finally Cancel Premium.

Through your Roku

roku on a wall-mounted television

Roku devices also serve as subscription stores, and if you sign up for any services while logged in, they’ll all show up in one central location.

The subscriptions page will list every of your subscriptions billed through Roku, and you can click Unsubscribe next to any in the list, then confirm the cancellation.

Through your Fire TV

Amazon Fire TV devices also have a centralized subscription page, in case you subscribed to anything that wasn’t Prime Video.

The Your Memberships and Subscriptions page on Amazon will show a list of anything you subscribed to or were subscribed to previously.

Clicking on Manage Subscription next to any entry in the list, then on Advance Controls will open the main subscription page where you can cancel the subscription’s recurring costs.

Through your Google TV

The image shows a TV screen displaying a media streaming interface with movie and TV show thumbnails, including titles like "Legion" and "The Invisible Man."
Image: Google

Google TV also lets you subscribe to many services, by downloading the respective app and clicking on a few options.

To cancel any subscriptions made through Google TV, you should head over to Google Play, where the Payments & subscriptions page will have a list of all subscriptions billed through your Google account.

Click Manage next to any subscription in the list, then on Cancel on the pop-up that appears. Any canceled subscriptions will stay around with a Resubscribe button in case you change your mind.

Now your subscription load should be a little lighter

If you cancelled any of your services, enjoy the extra cash in your account every month. Even if you found that you can’t live without all of your subscriptions, it’s still good to know what you’re paying every month.

The inception of the streaming platform has changed the picture of the entertainment industry. Love or hate, platforms like Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, Disney Plus, etc, are here to stay. Now we have a surprising new player joining in — NASA

Yes, you heard it right! While NASA is known for launching rockets, they are also launching a new streaming service called NASA Plus on November 8.

The service was in the beta stage previously but will be available in the middle of next week.

NASA Plus is unlike anything we have ever encountered

NASA’s upcoming streaming platform is quite different from the other commercial streaming platforms.

NASA Plus will be an ad-free and subscription-free streaming service – unlike most that we have seen before. Of course, it’s not the first free streaming service, but it’s impressive.

According to NASA, the free entry to the platform will make the agency’s Emmy Award-winning live coverage and views from its missions more accessible to the users.

Users will get these views and live coverage in the form of a collection of original video series, including a number of new series launching with the streaming service.

While this is NASA’s first entry into the world of streaming service, it is a part of the agency’s overall digital transformation. It’s making some good changes, and NASA has even modernized its website and application.

There’s also a new trailer available on the agency’s website, teasing the launch of NASA Plus, which comes with some incredible footage of our planet and beyond.

That said, let’s not forget the crucial timing of NASA Plus’s launch, as the agency is gearing up to send four astronauts to the Moon after 52 years.

The astronauts will begin their journey sometime in November by Artemis II to venture to the lunar surface. So, with NASA Plus, we will hopefully get a front-row seat to the mission from the comfort of our living rooms.

Netflix, one of the world’s top streaming platforms, is having quite a year after the success of its password-sharing crackdown

The streaming platform expanded its game streaming beta to the United States and recently increased the prices of its Basic and Premium subscription plans in several countries.

Now, the company has revealed its plans to introduce the download feature to its low-priced ad-supported plan.

Netflix is the first to introduce the “Download” function in ad-tier

Netflix introduced its ad-supported plan a year ago. While the company is moving to add new features to the platform, in a blog post published today, the streamer has revealed that it wants subscribers to be able to download shows and movies.

According to Netflix, the company plans to give its ad-tier subscribers the ability to download shows and movies by the end of this week. Users will also see fewer ads, which sounds fantastic.

The company also claims it will be the world’s first streaming service to offer this function to its ad-tier subscribers.

Fewer ads are something to look forward to, but that’s not all the streaming service is planning.

In addition to the download function and fewer ads, the company plans to introduce a new “Binge Ad” format at the beginning of next year.

In this new format, if a user watches three consecutive episodes of a show in a row, the “Binge Ad” format will kick off and allow the user to see the fourth episode without any advertisements.

While these features are welcome changes, the company probably intends to annoy you in different ways.

The streaming company is also planning to expand its title sponsorships–meaning you will see more preroll ads.

Netflix also added the ability to run 10, 20, and even 60-second ads globally. The prior options for advertisers were ads of 15 or 30 seconds in length.

The other new change is a welcome one: an upgrade to 1080p content quality for subscribers on the ads plans. It doesn’t quite make up for ads, but it’s a start.

Quick Answer: Netflix provides three tiers of subscription: a $6.99/month Standard with ads plan, a $15.49/month ad-free Standard plan, and a $22.99/month Premium plan

How much does a Netflix subscription cost? In most cases, this is an easy answer. But when it comes to streaming apps, prices are constantly changing, especially in this case.

Though the service originated as a cheap alternative to pricey cable television bills, a Netflix subscription has seen its fair share of price increases over the last decade.

Of course, Netflix is still relatively cheap when compared with traditional cable television packages. And there are a few different Netflix plans that are designed to fit your needs.

Depending on which Netflix package, the monthly subscription cost varies. So, how much is a Netflix subscription, and what are the differences between the different tiers available?

How much does Netflix cost?

Short answer: Netflix offers three subscription plans: the Standard with ads plan at $6.99/month, the Standard plan at $15.49/month, and the Premium plan at $22.99/month

Netflix’s monthly cost starts at $15.49 for the Standard package, and the price goes up from there.

How much is Netflix?

The company has adjusted its pricing structure as of 2023, offering various plans to cater to different user preferences. Here’s a breakdown of Netflix’s monthly cost:

  1. Standard with ads: This plan costs $6.99 per month. It includes ad-supported access to most movies and TV shows, unlimited mobile games, and allows for streaming on two supported devices at a time in Full HD.
  2. Standard: This plan is priced at $15.49 per month. It offers unlimited ad-free movies, TV shows, and mobile games. You can watch on two supported devices at a time in Full HD and download content on two supported devices at a time. There’s also an option to add one extra member who doesn’t live with you.
  3. Premium: The Premium plan costs $22.99 per month. It includes unlimited ad-free movies, TV shows, and mobile games. You can watch on four supported devices at a time in Ultra HD and download content on six supported devices at a time. You can add up to two extra members who don’t live with you. This plan also includes spatial audio.

You can add extra member slots for a cool $7.99 each per month. Because, you know, why not make your friends and family pay for their own account when you can foot the bill?

But hold your horses! There’s a little asterisk attached to this offer. That Standard with ads plan might not be available through all third-party billing partners and packages.

So, you’ll have to do some legwork and check with your provider to confirm availability. Because who doesn’t love a good wild goose chase?

And about those extra members, they get their own account and password. But don’t worry; you’re still the one picking up the tab.

The number of extra member slots you can add? Well, that depends on your plan. Because, of course, it does.

The Basic package gets you unlimited access to TV shows and movies on one device as well as downloads on one phone or tablet.

The ad-supported tier will have the same features as the Standard package, except there will be a few minutes of ads every hour.

Upgrading to the Standard package doubles the number of devices that you can stream on at the same time. You can also download content on two different devices with the Standard package.

Lastly, the Standard Netflix subscription unlocks HD content, which lets you stream Netflix TV shows and movies at 1080p.

And finally, the Premium package allows for streaming and downloads on up to four devices at the same time.

The platform’s most expensive subscription also grants you Ultra HD capabilities, so you can stream Netflix content in crispy 4K resolution.

It seems that Netflix and its customers are going through a love-hate relationship. Even after its password-sharing crackdown, people can’t stop subscribing to the platform, and Netflix can’t stop increasing prices

Yeah, Netflix has officially announced another price hike, effective immediately, and they are asking for a whopping $23 per month to stream 4K content.

Here’s the Netflix price hike you were not waiting for

Netflix subscribers in the US will start to see their bills go up as they now have to pay extra to access the platform in 4K.

In addition, the streaming platform is also increasing the prices of its Basic tier, and not just in the US.

As a part of its earnings announcement, the company provided a chart with amounts listed of its increased prices, and the company said the following.

While we mostly paused price increases as we rolled out paid sharing, our overall approach remains the same — a range of prices and plans to meet a wide range of needs, and as we deliver more value to our members, we occasionally ask them to pay a bit more.

And here’s the new pricing for Netflix subscribers in the US/UK/France:

Ads: $6.99 / £4.99 / 5.99€

Basic: $11.99 / £7.99 / 10.99€

Standard: $15.49 / £10.99 / 13.49€

Premium: $22.99 / £17.99 / 19.99€

The price hike only affects the Basic and Premium tier plans. The Basic plan, previously $9.99/month, has become $11.99/month. So, there’s a $2 increase. Meanwhile, the Premium tier increased by $3, jumping from $19.99 to $22.99 per month.

Prices of the other tiers have remained the same. As Netflix said, “Our starting price is extremely competitive with other streamers, and at $6.99 per month in the US, for example, it’s much less than the average price of a single movie ticket.”
