This partnership has led to <a href=\"https:\/\/knowtechie.com\/amazon-bribed-police-offers-to-advertise-ring-home-security-products-in-exchange-for-free-stuff\/\" data-lasso-id=\"90599\">some questionable activities.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>With the release of Ring&#8217;s Neighborhoods social network, it has given police <a href=\"https:\/\/knowtechie.com\/amazon-ring-doorbell-neighborhood-program\/\" data-lasso-id=\"90600\">a concerning amount of access to all sorts of footage.<\/a> To keep piling on the concerns, Amazon confirms something else. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/technology\/2019\/11\/19\/police-can-keep-ring-camera-video-forever-share-with-whomever-theyd-like-company-tells-senator\/\" data-lasso-id=\"90601\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em>The Washington Post<\/em><\/a> reports that not only can police forces associated with Ring request footage, but they also keep it and share it within the force.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>READ MORE: <\/strong><\/em><a href=\"https:\/\/knowtechie.com\/ring-giving-footage-to-police-without-warrant\/\" data-lasso-id=\"90602\"><strong><em>Ring is giving your camera footage to police without a warrant<\/em><\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>This kind of screams \u201cviolation of privacy,\u201d don\u2019t you think?<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Ring footage can be obtained by police and shared with anyone they want to share it with<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Massachusetts Senator Ed Markey <a href=\"https:\/\/www.markey.senate.gov\/news\/press-releases\/senator-markey-investigation-into-amazon-ring-doorbell-reveals-egregiously-lax-privacy-policies-and-civil-rights-protections\" data-lasso-id=\"90603\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">published a report<\/a> about his concerns with Ring and how it affects its customers. Within the report, Markey found that there aren\u2019t a lot of restrictions on the police.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Amazon Ring\u2019s policies are an open door for privacy and civil liberty violations. If you\u2019re an adult walking your dog or a child playing on the sidewalk, you shouldn\u2019t have to worry that Ring\u2019s products are amassing footage of you and that law enforcement may hold that footage indefinitely or share that footage with any third parties.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Amazon Vice President of Public Policy, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.markey.senate.gov\/imo\/media\/doc\/Response%20Letter_Ring_Senator%20Markey%2011.01.2019.pdf\" data-lasso-id=\"90604\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Brian Huseman responded to Markey\u2019s findings.<\/a> In his own letter, Huseman states that Ring customers can refuse to hand over their security footage to the police. He describes it as \u201cthe same way they would traditionally answer the door or respond to a public request for tips.\u201d \u00a0Huseman also mentions that this footage-sharing idea was put in place to help police investigate neighborhood crimes.<\/p>\n<p>Amazon does have good intentions with Ring.
